Abstract
Here is my finished abstract.
I have not been able to prepare my introduction for today. However, I was choosing what other politicians and their speeches to analyze. I chose George Bush and his comment on being the first Evangelical President. I'm thinking of also analyzing a news anchor on fox news since it is media.
I got inspired today and wrote a couple of sentences for my conclusion:
Politicians are officials who are meant to keep the country moving on, progressing, conquering the next frontier. Nowadays however, they deem to do what favors and progresses themselves. As Orwell said himself: “politics is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia” (.
George Orwell’s essay on the “Politics and the English Language” presents a connection between the “political chaos” and the “decay of language”. From several texts, Orwell exhibits the disputes seen and presents solutions to them. These include: dying metaphors, operators or verbal false limbs, pretentious diction and meaningless words.
This extended essay aims to analyze: “What elements from George Orwell’s ‘Politics and the English Language’ can we find in the right winged media in the United States political speeches?” This analytical process has been divided into different stages and sources of right wing media and political speeches. I have investigated Trump’s tweets, quotes from speeches and …. (other politicians here) including Janusz Korwin-Mikke. The follow up consists of looking for the signs of manipulation suggested by Orwell and interpreting their effects on the society and the presentation of the politician himself.
From a local phenomena, Korwin’s use of language against women applies to Orwell’s essay, demonstrating an example of corrupted language in politics and showing genuine biased judgements.
My hypothesis is that most of Orwell’s warnings can be found in many of the words that have been spoken by right wing politicians. The link between politics and the english language have helped me establish that.
Just like propaganda can manipulate, so can the media along with those who are behind it. The manipulation of the society by twisting and corrupting language has become a burden and is regarded by the society more than what politicians have hoped for.

As George Orwell said: “We have the ability to change - humans are the source of dystopia. Once humans change, the world will still change with them”. It is up to every single individual how to react to change and how they want to cause it. Spreading awareness will open people’s eyes into seeing the masked truth behind the lies. Although some may seem innocent, they aren’t as they always seem to appear. A mind conscious of innocence laughs at the lies of rumor; a latin proverb which still rings true to this day.
